It was a cross-town basketball matchup as East hosted Lincoln on Friday, December 7. In the women’s varsity game, the Scarlets controlled the pace from the opening tip, topping the Rails with a final score of 76-30. Click the headline to see photos from the game.

Loosely based on the opera La Bohème, Rent tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City’s East Village. Students will present four performances in the auditorium: Thursday, Nov. 29 and Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 PM as well as Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM. The student application process for the June 2019 Kofu, Japan Exchange is underway. This student exchange is entering its 36th year and proves to be one of the most rewarding educational opportunities offered to the students of Des Moines Public Schools. U.S. History teachers and students at East High School carved an intriguing niche into the course curriculum this year. They’re going to examine their school’s own long story within the broader context of America’s.
