Music & Theatre
The music program for East High School includes extensive vocal and instrumental opportunities for students. East offers band (Joseph Thering), Orchestra (Jennifer Luft), color guard (Michelle Eggleston) and vocal music (Traci Squires). East’s goal is to ensure that all students have an opportunity to have a strong musical education and have access to programs that enrich their school experience. East also provides students with an opportunity to participate in theatre and play production (Jamaal Allan).
The East High band program offers a comprehensive and extensive variety of music performance opportunities for students. One of those opportunities includes being part of the East High Marching Scarlets, the most visible of the bands at East. The Marching Scarlets march at all home football games and at several parades and festivals. Another of the many performance opportunities is playing in the symphonic band, which is the core of the band program and rehearses every day beginning after the marching season. Students in the symphonic band perform at concerts and school assemblies. Other performance opportunities are available.
